On 19.05.2022 the opening ceremony of the II stage of the Olympiad for foreign students of preparatory departments of higher education institutions was held in the Assembly Hall of the Preparatory Faculty for international students of Kazan Federal University.

Head of the Foreign Relations Department of Kazan Federal University Olga Vershinina made a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony.

The Preparatory Faculty has been organising the Olympiad for students of preparatory faculties for the third year. There is a good and kind tradition to hold the Olympiad every year.

The first stage of the Olympiad took place in April. Today and tomorrow will be the second stage of the Olympiad.

The number of participants is increasing year by year. The first time we held the Olympiad in 2020, the number of participants was 117, last year the first stage was attended by 140 people, and this year the first stage has brought together 170 international students of the preparatory departments.

It is interesting that the geography of participating countries is also expanding. This year students from 35 countries have taken part in the Olympiad. Special mention should be made of the universities where our participants are studying. In 2020 pupils from 9 higher education institutions of Russia participated in the Olympiad, in 2021 – from 18 universities and this year the students from 19 universities took part in the Olympiad, which is very pleasant because it means that the popularity of the Russian language is growing every year and the Olympiad attracts much interest among the preparatory departments, preparatory departments of various universities in our vast country.
