China, graduate of the Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n1)\nHow did you hear about KFU? Why did you choose this particular\nuniversity?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nWhen\nI was still in high school, a delegation from university, which is\nthe most prestigious in our province, came to us, they told us about\nRussian universities, in particular, KFU. At that time, I really\nwanted to study abroad, because, first, I can get the best education\nthat is necessary for employment, and second, I can expand my\nhorizons and get to know people from other countries. So I decided to\ngo to Russia. I chose KFU for the following reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n1)\nUniversity location: This university is located in a safe city where\nChristians and Muslims live peacefully. The Chinese pay the most\nattention to this matter\nwhen traveling abroad. KFU is located in the European part of Russia,\nand the city is inexpensive, my family is not so rich as to spend a\nmillion rubles annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n2)\nthe reputation of university: KFU is one of the most prestigious\nuniversities in Russia. Famous people around the world studied at\nthis University, such as V.I. Lenin, L.N. Tolstoy, N.I. Lobachevsky\nand others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n3)\na good hostel: the hostel has everything you need for a comfortable\nlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n2)\nHow did you imagine your life in Russia before coming here?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nBefore\narriving in Kazan, I thought that all in the town would be built\naround with skyscrapers, wide and long avenues, there would be clean\nair, that we would go to classes from Monday to Friday, after classes\nwe would walk along the streets with friends, read books in\nlibraries, talk in cafes etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n3)\nWhat particularly surprised you in the real life of Russian people?\nWhat unusual problems did you encounter in Russia?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nI\nwas especially surprised by the Russian bath. Russian people sit in\nthe vaporarium for some time at a temperature of 70-90 degrees and\njump into cold water or snow. There are also so-called “walruses”,\npeople swim in cold water in winter, I think this is fully consistent\nwith what we consider the Russians to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe\ndanger of getting lost is the only problem that I encountered while\nstudying in Russia. Soon after arriving in Kazan, my friends and I\nwere lost, at that time we didn\u2019t know the language well, there was\nno one to ask for help, we did not know that you need to call a taxi\nby the phone, and not just stand on the street and wave our hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n4)\nWhat did the training at the preparatory school give you? What did\nyou especially like (or you remember) in your studies at preparatory\nschool?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nOf\ncourse, while studying at preparatory school, I got the knowledge\nthat was needed for entering university and would be needed for\nfurther work, but, not only that. I developed the ability for\nindependent studies. I especially remember the attitude of teachers,\ntheir concern for the students. Whatever questions we asked during\nthe study, they always explained with pleasure. I especially admired\nthe talent of our teachers, because I received knowledge in a\npleasant and joyful atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n5)\nWhat would you advise your compatriots if they decide to study at KFU\npreparatory school?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nLanguage\nis the key to the culture of the country. I advise everyone who wants\nto get a better education, get acquainted with the culture of another\ncountry and meet interesting people, make great efforts to learn the\nlanguage, you can not do without it. The second advice I will give is\nto overcome the internal barrier, boldly communicate with foreign\nstudents, taking into account the culture of the country to which\nyour counterpart belongs to, because any unsuccessful joke can lead\nto unexpected consequences. Third tip: when faced with problems, be\nrestrained, try to solve it yourself, parents will not always help\nyou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n6)\nWhat are your impressions of Kazan? What did you especially like?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nI\nconsider Kazan as my second hometown, despite the fact that it does\nnot correspond to my ideas that were before arrival. The kind,\nresponsive and educated people live here. They have changed my\ndestiny. I liked everything that was in Kazan: classes and strolls\nwith friends in the cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n7)\nWhat do you consider your main achievement in studies and work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nI\nwould say with pride that I graduated from university with a Red\ndiploma, but, nevertheless, I think this is less important. My main\nachievement is developing a habit in myself, thanks to this useful\nhabit I have become independent.
